    WORKER CONTROLLED ENTERPRISES IN BRISBANE

    Below here you will find a list of worker controlled enterprises in Brisbane. These enterprises generally function within a Mutualist philosophy, as developed by Pierre-Joseph Proudhon 1, 2, 3 .

    By consuming and saving through these organisations, cash flow is deprived from the capitalist market, and funds are made available to community and activist projects.

  • Foresters ANA:
    A mutualist fund that has provided capital for various community & ecological enterprises and projects, provides ethical superannuation and supports 'savings and loans' groups.
  • Reverse Garbage:
    A workers co-operative that collects materials that would otherwise hit landfill, and resells them. This co-operative fianancially assists Friends of the Earth Brisbane. Other enterprises located at Friends of the Earth Brisbane are Bicycle Revolution who sell, repair and recycle bicycles, and Eco-geek who sells, recycles and repairs computers.
  • Griffith University Food Co-op:
    Serving up healthy vegetarian food at Nathan Campus, Griffith University, while also organising a buying co-operative that supplies organic food through a community supported agriculture program.

  • Justice Products:
    Established in the 1980's by the 'Catholic Worker' (anarcho-chistians), they are Brisbane's longest running fair trade 'supermarket'. It's the place to get your coffee & tea, vegan soap, handicrafts, seeds, plus more. They are located at 192 Boundary St, West End and open 10am-5pm, 5 days a week.
